The Three Sisters at Echo Point is an icon in the Blue Mountains National Park and every year probably a million people come to see this natural sandstone wonder. Living so close to the National Park myself it is no surprise that this is one of the first landscapes I photographed seriously to create prints I could sell. I had been working in Katoomba the day I shot this image and there was a lot of smoke in the air from a bush fire in the Gross Valley north of Katoomba. This smoke combined with the sunset to give this image a beautiful orange glow which enhanced the natural colours in the sandstone and left a haze in the Jamison Valley behind. The Three Sisters have stood the test of time and have weathered many storms in the years they have been standing and hopefully they will be standing for generations to come.
